Mesker Openings Group executive team consists of professionals with extensive experience in the commercial construction business, as well as other industries to bring knowledge and learning to our company. The team is not only dedicated to providing leadership with a focus on growth, but to also continue its best-in-class practices and focus on building relationships with our trusted customers and partners.

Meet the Team

Derek Maczka
Derek is the President of Mesker Openings Group. He leads the executive team providing strategic guidance and corporate direction for the company. Prior to his role as President, Derek was the President and Managing Partner of Hollow Metal Xpress (HMX) until the acquisition/merger with Mesker Openings Group in 2014. In his early years in the business, he served in various capacities including sales, sales management and operations management. He’s learned the business from different perspectives, which helps guide the company today. Derek received his undergraduate degree from University of North Carolina at Wilmington and his MBA from Arizona State University. He currently splits his time between Phoenix, AZ and Kauai, HI where he lives with his wife Jennifer and their two children. He enjoys spending most of his free time in and around the water. He is an avid surfer and also enjoys fishing, sailing, swimming, hiking and golf.
Mike Earrey
Mike serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Mesker Openings Group, providing leadership and guidance for all corporate financial aspects of the company. Mike joined MOG earlier in 2015, bringing with him 30 years of manufacturing and cost accounting experience in the automotive, consumer products and mining equipment industries. He held a CFO position for 14 of those years as well. Mike has a Bachelor of Professional Accounting degree from Mississippi State University and is a registered CPA. When Mike’s not working, he enjoys flying classic antique airplanes and watching Mississippi State football and baseball.
Kevin Gold
Kevin is the Chief Operating Officer for Mesker Openings group, managing all aspects for operations including safety, quality, supply chain, production and logistics. Providing operational leadership for the company, individual brands and all regional locations, his focus is to enable revenue growth and expansion for MOG. Kevin joined Mesker in 2011 as Vice President and General Manager, integrating new businesses and business processes into MOG. He is a results-driven, operations professional with broad and progressive experience leading continuous process and discrete manufacturing organizations in several industries. Prior to joining MOG, Kevin had more than 21 years of experience in the packaging industry as General Manager for a business unit of Illinois Tool Works, Inc. He received his B.S. in Marketing from Illinois State University and he currently resides in Huntsville, Alabama with his family.
Joe Lopez
Johannes “Joe” Lopez is Executive VP and Head of Corporate Business Development for Mesker Openings Group. Joe heads up the corporate sales and marketing strategy while assisting with the continual development of the Design Hardware brand. Joe’s career in the Door and Hardware Industry started 6 months out of college where he spent his early years in business development and as a liaison to overseas hardware manufacturing facilities. He was introduced as a partner to the original Mesker Door and Design Hardware legacy brands in February 2006 and hasn’t looked back ever since. His passion for the industry and the MOG business is fueled by the industry’s need for fresh, creative strategic alliances and his love for team building. Joe spends his time visiting MOG facilities and strategic relationship building. Joe attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he majored in Kinesiology and pitched on their baseball team. While at home in Chesterfield, MO, Joe spends his time with wife and three children. At home, Joe’s passion is in coaching and mentoring our youth. Joe was born in Caracas, Venezuela and speaks Spanish and French.
Steve Gay
Steve serves as the HMX Brand Manager, responsible for planning and coordinating marketing and branding strategies across the country. He is also the Mesker Openings Group Western Region Sales Manager, where he works with our outside sales representatives and customers throughout the Western United States. Prior to his current assignment, Steve served as Vice President and General Manager of the HMX – Phoenix operation. Before joining MOG and HMX, he served in various capacities leading a wide-range of organizations and managing construction projects throughout the United States, the Middle East, and Africa. Steve lives in Phoenix and spends his spare time riding motorcycles with friends and family and spending time with his teenage children and his wife, Lisa.
Nick McCarty
Nick currently serves multiple roles as part of the Mesker Openings Group. He is the Brand Manager for both Mesker Door and Wood Door Xpress (WDX), providing strategic direction for the brands, as well as marketing and branding efforts. Nick is also the Eastern Region Sales Manager for MOG, where he works with outside sales representatives and customers on in the Eastern part of the country. Prior to his current role, Nick started with MOG as a sales manager for Mesker Door and Design Hardware. Before joining MOG, Nick worked in the industry in sales and marketing. He received his degree in Political Science from Miami University in Oxford, OH. Nick currently resides in West Virginia with his wife and three children. Nick loves the family atmosphere at Mesker Openings Group and believes the close relationships with strong, independent distributors makes the work more rewarding.
